Journey Through the Amazon

“The Amazon Rainforest is the lungs of the earth.” That’s what football mad Mauro’s mum had always told him. He never quite understood it until he and his little sister had to find their way through the Rainforest to get back home.

In this workshop children will become Mauro and Diana as they learn about their Rainforest home and some of the threats it is under from the outside world. Through drama, dance and vocal techniques children will become explorers learning about life in the rainforest both for its human and animal inhabitants! From rowing down the Amazon River in a school canoe, climbing chocolate trees, to a Rainforest football training session, the workshop will offer innovative and exciting ways to learn about the rainforest. It will also give your children opportunity to discover, discuss and debate issues around deforestation and the industries that benefit from the Amazon, as well as teaching them Theatre and teamworking skills.
This workshop is suitable for Key Stage 2 but can be adapted for Key Stage 1.
